Pick locks at 5PM ET
The Rays are still alive. Tampa won Game 4 in 12 innings, 4-3, and now Milwaukee leads the series 3-1 with one more game at Tropicana Field. We had the Brewers last night, and that one goes on the receipts page as a loss. Tonight the price has swung far enough that we’re taking Tampa.
The Matchup
- Game 4 went long. Milwaukee scored in the top of the 12th, and the Rays answered with two in the bottom half. Ian Seymour got the win, and Shane Drohan took the loss.
- The series so far. Milwaukee won 3-2, 5-4 and 10-1 before last night. Three of the four games have been decided by one run.
- The season. Milwaukee went 103-59 and outscored opponents by 214 runs. Tampa went 98-64, plus 86.
- First pitch. 8:00 PM ET at Tropicana Field, on Fox.
The Pitchers
Jacob Misiorowski starts for Milwaukee. He went 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts in 174.2 innings this season, and he beat Tampa in Game 1, allowing one run in five innings. He hasn’t finished more than five innings in any of his three postseason starts.
Tampa hasn’t named a starter yet. Nick Martinez started Game 1 and lines up on regular rest. He went 15-6 with a 3.10 ERA in 31 starts this season, and he has a 2.81 ERA in 16 postseason innings.
The Number
Take the margin out and the market makes Milwaukee about a 58% favorite on the road. Our run-scoring numbers, with Misiorowski’s season counted in, land a point or two lower. It’s a small gap, and at plus money it’s on Tampa’s side.
The honest case against: Misiorowski has a 1.80 ERA, the Rays haven’t named a starter, and Milwaukee only needs one more win. It’s a Game Pick, a lean, and it goes on the receipts page win or lose.
Bottom Line
Take the Rays on the moneyline at . Lean. Plus money at home, against a starter who hasn’t gone deep this month. Rays Up.
Lines as posted Wednesday morning. Tampa hasn’t named its starter, so confirm the line before first pitch.
Same-Game Parlay
One read in two legs. Tampa strikes out less than any team in baseball. If the Rays put the ball in play against Misiorowski, they’re probably the ones celebrating. Both legs need the same game, so this is one position, not two bets.
