I’ll lay three with Seattle at home. Our preview had the Seahawks as the best team in the NFC by our preseason numbers, and the numbers make them closer to a six-point favorite. San Francisco is 4-0, though, and almost everyone is betting the 49ers. It’s a lean.
The Number
Our preview had San Francisco at 10.1 wins and Seattle at 13. One point of spread for every win, plus three for the home team, makes this Seattle by 5.9. The board has Seattle by three. That’s 2.9 points of daylight on the Seahawks. We cut that gap in half, because a preseason number knows less in October than it thinks it does, which leaves 1.5 points. That’s a small edge, so it’s a lean.
The line opened at three and is three and a half at some shops, with more than eight in ten bets and nearly nine in ten dollars on San Francisco. Get three if you can.
The Matchup
The 49ers will likely be without Nick Bosa, and Mike Evans is dealing with a rib injury. Without Bosa, the pass rush gets a lot easier for the Seahawks, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba leads the league with 481 receiving yards. He’s cleared 94 yards in two of his last three. George Kittle has topped 55 receiving yards in all three of his last games, so San Francisco will move the ball too.
Bottom Line
Take Seattle minus three at . Lean. Our numbers make Seattle about a six-point favorite, and the board asks three. San Francisco’s 4-0 start and the public money keep it a lean.
Same-Game Parlay
Three legs, one read: Seattle covers because Smith-Njigba has a big day against a pass rush without Bosa, even with Kittle getting his. Every leg needs the same game, so this is one position, not three bets.
The angleSmith-Njigba runs wild without Bosa in the lineup and Seattle covers.
