Three college games on a Sunday, and two of them are worth real money. That is a thin card next to yesterday, so I am not going to pretend otherwise. Here is a side on all three, a note on which two I actually staked, and the Labor Day nightcap thrown in because it is the best number left on the holiday weekend.
Every side below comes from the same place: our ratings set against what the board is posting, with no home field credit on either of the two neutral sites. Where the gap is thin I say it is thin. No totals in this one, and no player props.
Featured Picks
Louisville at Ole Miss, 7:30 PM ET, Nashville. Give me Ole Miss and lay the six and a half at . Trinidad Chambliss finished eighth in the Heisman voting last season and Louisville counters with a quarterback who has thrown 36 passes in three years and never started a game. Read the full breakdown →
Wisconsin at Notre Dame, 7:30 PM ET, Lambeau Field. On the side I want Wisconsin and the points at . Notre Dame is missing eight players including its best receiver and three offensive linemen, and Green Bay is 130 miles from Madison, so the neutral label is doing a lot of work. The Rest of Sunday
Washington State at Washington, 4:00 PM ET. Take the Cougars and the points at . Washington is comfortably the better team and I am not arguing otherwise, but SP+ makes them a shade under three touchdowns better and the board is asking for three and a half, which is a rivalry tax I would rather collect than pay.
That is the whole Sunday board. Three games. If you were expecting a list the length of yesterday’s, this is what the first Sunday of a season looks like.
Labor Day Nightcap
SMU at Florida State, Monday 7:30 PM ET, Tallahassee. I want Florida State and the field goal at . SMU is the better roster and the ranked side of this matchup, but once you credit Doak Campbell on a Monday night the numbers separate these two by about half a point, not three, and this is the widest gap between my number and the board’s on the entire holiday weekend.
Bottom Line
Two staked plays, both on games that got the full treatment, and two more sides where the number is a little richer than it should be. The Ole Miss spread is the one I feel best about and the Florida State points are the one with the widest gap. Washington State is a thin call and I would not blame anyone for leaving it alone.
Every price above updates itself off the board, so what you see is what is actually posted when you read it rather than what was posted when I wrote it. Once a game kicks off the price disappears rather than showing you an in-play number dressed up as a pregame one.
