Most rewards programs make you play a long game. FanDuel wipes the board on the first of every month. A quiet August costs you nothing in September, and one heavy month counts for exactly as much as a heavy year. I think that is the most underrated thing about this app.

The short version

Points run inside a single calendar month, that month sets your level, then everything zeroes and starts again. There is no annual threshold to fall short of and no status to lose over a slow patch. On top of that it is the joint-best price on our board and it has the largest ratings base of any app we cover. If you are opening one account and you do not want to think about it again, this is the one.

What we like

• The prices lead the board. On the August 26 board we compared 575 games across ten leagues. FanDuel had the best or tied-best number on 288 of 622 prices. DraftKings was 293 of 644. That is 46.3% against 45.5%, and a gap that small is noise, not an edge. FanDuel and DraftKings lead the five books we track on raw price and there is nothing to choose between them. Both are ahead of BetMGM by enough to be real.
• The month is the whole season. Points run from midnight ET on the first to 11:59 PM ET on the last day, across four monthly levels. Whatever you finish a month on decides what you can claim the month after. Cross a level halfway through and you move up straight away rather than waiting for the reset. If you bet football hard and barely touch spring, the spring months simply cost you nothing.
• Bet Reset gives a losing bet another life. The token returns your stake when a qualifying wager loses. Know the fence around it first: FanDuel Sportsbook only, and it will not combine with a Profit Boost or a Bonus Bet on the same slip. So use it on a standalone play rather than stacking it onto something already boosted, or you waste it.
• Everything you do feeds one balance. Sportsbook and casino both count, and so does daily fantasy. It all feeds one points total. Combo Builder then takes up to eight predictions on a single ticket. If your betting is spread across the products rather than sitting in one, you climb faster here than anywhere that counts only the sportsbook.

Getting the most out of the monthly reset

The reset is the whole strategy, and it cuts both ways.

The good half is that nothing is ever wasted. No annual threshold you fail to reach, no status you slide out of. Everyone starts each month on the same line, so one busy stretch gets you the same treatment as somebody who bets every week of the year.

The other half is that your level does not carry. What you build in one month expires with it, and the reward arrives the month after, so a heavy September pays you in October. I would concentrate a run of betting inside one calendar month rather than splitting it across the end of one and the start of the next. Split across two, the same money might not reach a level in either.

One quirk worth knowing: the birthday reward is not set by your current month. FanDuel pitches it at the level you most often reached across the previous twelve months, so the long record matters in that one narrow place and nowhere else.

The app

The Apple listing sits at 4.8 out of 5 across roughly 2.2 million ratings, far and away the largest ratings base of any book we cover. Read that carefully. It is not evidence the app beats a rival sitting at 4.8 on a tenth of the reviews. What it does mean is that the score is very hard to move and very hard to game, so it is the number I trust most on this page.

What you will actually use: same game parlays, live in-game markets, and a builder that lets you construct a bet in real time as the game unfolds, with each leg priced as you add it. Combo Builder handles up to eight predictions on one ticket. Predicts is a separate prediction-market product folded into the same login rather than a second app to install. FanDuel’s parent company Flutter puts the customer base at 18 million.

Worth knowing before you sign up

• FanDuel does not publish the numbers. The terms confirm four monthly levels and say the points required are listed, but the actual thresholds surface inside the app rather than on a public page. You can see how close you are once you are signed in. You cannot work out in advance what a level will cost you. The other laddered programs here all post at least some of theirs.
• The reset works against steady bettors. Bet a little every week all year and you may never accumulate enough inside any single month to reach a worthwhile level, while the same annual volume would have climbed a laddered program. This structure rewards concentration, not consistency.
• The rewards stay inside the app. What you earn here comes back as betting value. No hotel, no flights, no merchandise at the other end of it. That is the trade you make for not having to think about any of it.

Where you can bet it

FanDuel operates online sports betting across most of the legal American map. If you can bet legally where you live, it is very likely FanDuel is already there. Check its own site for your state before you sign up.
